How to Prank the People You Love the Most
April Fool’s is in many ways the day you can express your appreciation for your family, friends and coworkers. And, hopefully they will express their appreciation for your humor by forgiving you quickly after you trick them. Try these family-and-office-friendly pranks this year for some cheap, easy thrills.
Ahead of bath time, take a bottle of clear nail polish and paint the bars of soap in your house and let it dry. Once you’re sure it’s completely dry, put the soaps back in their respective showers and baths and wait for the mass confusion to commence!
Sour Candy Apples
Plan a trip to the grocery store and pick up yellow onions, sturdy sticks and caramel. Dip a sack of them to make them look exactly like candy apples. After dinner, present your “sweet treat” to the fam and get your phone ready for recording their first bites. Sweet (err…sour) success!
Wake up before the rest of the family and set all clocks an hour or two ahead of time. Let the alarm clocks do the dirty work for you, but plan on taking the sleepy heads out for breakfast to make up for lost slumber time.
Before your coworkers get into work, turn as many things upside down in his or her offices/cubes as you can, including photos, calendars, bulletin boards, etc…. When your colleagues get into work in the morning, you’ll get a kick out of the disoriented look on their faces.
If you want to give your coworkers a jolt bigger than any amount of espresso could provide, consider attaching an air horn to their chair. It works best if your coworker has an adjustable office chair. Simply tape it to the non-adjustable part connected to the chair’s base so that when they sit down, they set off the horn immediately.
Before your friends come over to binge-watch The Bachelor, get a variety pack of your friends’ favorite chips. Carefully open the bottom of each and switch the contents, using clear tape to close the bottoms securely. Just try to wait patiently for the fun to begin. Speed it up by making sure your guests come hungry!
Cookies and Colgate
Everyone loves Oreos, right? And, very few people can say no to a brand new pack of America’s favorite cookie sandwich. Keep your friends on their toes by replacing the Oreo filling with toothpaste of the same color and enjoy the surprise reactions around the room.
Your child may already have fake creepy crawlers in their toy chest, so do put them to use. If not, any toy section will provide all the supplies you need to wreak insect havoc on your besties: toy cockroaches are a must and spiders are an excellent choice, too. Sprinkle the critters around the room in spots you know your friends will see them: on glasses, couch pillows, snack bowls and counter tops.
Now, get to scheming before the kids, your friends or your spouse gets you first. If you’re the prankster of the group, we recommend catching them off guard at midnight – the start of April 1. They’ll never see it coming.
