5 Last-Minute Halloween Costume Ideas
It’s the classic Halloween-party move: you waited until the last minute to pick a costume. But, not to worry! We’ve gathered a handful of ensemble ideas you can piece together after only one single sweep of your closet. The best part? They are all female characters you love from TV and film – and even your go-to emoji.
Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ role as vice president in Veep – Selina Meyer – is one easy TV character to pull off. All you need is a sharp red blazer, a pearl necklace and pin on your lapel of the American flag. Taking it one step further: shape your locks into a bob or get a bold, brunette wig.
Candace And Toni
This one’s for a pair of Portlandia fans. With just a few closet-staples you can transform into feminist bookstore owners Candace and Toni. To complete the costumes, think layers: long bohemian skirts and shirts. Flowy sleeves, beads and glasses are a nice touch, too. Consider also making a bookmark with the name of their famed fictional bookstore: Women and Women First.
The 90s are back and who did the 90s better than Daria? The misanthropic cartoon star’s main giveaway is her dark humor, but the rest of her character’s attributes can be found on a clothing rack. Find a green-ish jacket, orange T-shirt, black skirt, lace-up combat boots and circular glasses. The best part about this get-up is that you’ll be comfortable all night and warm.
Make an ode to the queen of the plastics with this Mean Girls costume. Remember when Regina George unintentionally started a hallway fashion revolution by cutting out two circles on her bust? Take a tank top, cut circles around your girls and voila! Just remember to wear a bright colored cami underneath the signature white tank top in order to make the costume obvious.
Dancing Bunnies Emoji
This one’s probably saved under “most recent” when texting. Grab a friend and play emoji twinsies. You’ll need a black leotard, nude tights with nude flats and a black bunny ears. Everyone will get a kick out of it (a side kick that is).
If none of these strike your fancy or you can’t pull enough items together to form one of these spot-on looks, try the not-so-subtle “night in” (pjs while carrying around snacks) costume or just give everyone the 404 Error. Happy Halloween!
