5 Period-Friendly Summer Style Outfits
Posted byAlicia Trent
Thoughts of summer are usually filled with visions of bright summer dresses, short shorts and sleeveless tops. But when your period strikes, it’s normal to worry that your typical summer attire may result in embarrassing stains or lack of comfort. Not to worry! A pesky period is no reason to ruin your summer style. Women can still dress for coolness and comfort in the midst of their cycle. Here are five options to consider:
1. Maxi to the Rescue
Maxi dresses are long and flowy, ensuring comfort when you’re feeling bloated and blah. They come in a variety of colors and patterns that can flatter any body type, giving you that hot summer style you’re after. If dresses aren’t your thing, considering a pretty top paired with a maxi skirt. These flowy garments conveniently cover nearly all of your legs, giving you max comfort and hiding the appearance of any bulging feminine products.
2. Tune into Tunics
Tunic tops are the perfect summer must-have, whether you’re on period or not. Tunics are long blouses that generally cover your butt, hiding any potential staining mishaps. The flowy tops come in sleeveless styles and are loose-fitting to ensure comfort when your stomach isn’t feeling its best. Tunic tops come in all colors, patterns and styles so you’ll have no trouble matching them to a pair of jeans or better yet, stretchy jeggings.
3. Shift Dress to Impress
Shift dresses add plenty of summer style to any wardrobe, while still giving a sense of breezy comfort. These loose-hanging dresses have little to no waist. Zero definition is helpful on days you’re feeling bloated or when you’re hoping to hide that much-needed super duper pad. Shift dresses can be found at virtually any department store or boutique.
4. Hooray for Harem Pants
If you’re looking for a comfortable, yet stylish pairs of summer pants, look no further than harem pants. These baggy trousers are tapered at the ankle with side flaps on the hip and usually have an elastic waistband. Harem pants have a super cool vibe and are great to pair with a tank top or summery T-shirt.
5. Chillin’ in Linen
Harem pants not your style? Go for a pair of loose linen pants or capris. There’s a reason these breezy pants are found on vacationers in sunny resort towns. The fabric is light and breathable and they generally come in white or beige to reflect the sun’s rays. (If you’re wary of the light color, linen pants are available in other shades, too.) Perfect to pair with virtually any top, linen pants are comfortable and appropriate for nearly any summery occasion.
Whatever you choose, be sure that you feel comfortable and confident!
